How are you fighting off the cold and flu season?

Wow, it's that time of year once again , colds and flues are going around in full force! How are you fighting it off? Are you falling victim to the pesky little viruses?  I know it can be challenging to fight back, but that is exactly what you have to do sometimes. Here are a few things I do to keep one step ahead.1. At first sign of colds and flues I will start making my cold and flu recipe.  …See More

"Yeah, I have seen people use those hammocks they look sweet! They would cut out the need for a sleeping pad. Red Cedar leaf is a great anti-fungal. Just steep it in hot water for at least 10-15 minutes, then use it as a foot soak "

one of my hiking plans for 2014 season is Lake Dorothy (just east of Alderleaf campus) then up and over Pyramid Mountain (behind Haystack) and then down to Little Lake Cavanaugh. I hiked to Lake Dorothy from my house this summer and it was really fun, now that google earth has refreshed I can see a possible route for my next hike. probably would be a 3-day trip, especially since I've always wanted to explore the headwaters of Youngs Creek.

Fattening up on Girl Scout cookies!  It's that time of year again.  I only went in to the Hardware store to get out of the cold and research one of my dafter projects, when I found myself running the gauntlet of little girls, with pleading eyes, hawking cookies.  I'm hopeless!  So now I have a couple boxes of these things to consume before the next whatever comes along.  Ugh!  I love these things.  By the by, the project is a hollow hiking staff.  I figured I could put a survival kit inside.  Still looking for a suitable material.  I want to steer away from metal.  Too noisy!  The available pipe stuff won't take the constant pounding, and I'm not sure about it's ability to stand up to bending.  Perhaps, if I wrap it in fiberglass?  If I come up with an answer, I'll let you know.

Yes, Georgie!  I wish I could visit , but it's not in the budget.  I was searching for "Drunken Monkey", when I found this.  It's more in line with my interests.  I joined the Mushroom Group.  Tell Jason I left him a brief message in his MySpace box.  I joined Facebook, as well.  Still learning to navigate that one.  I'll try to remember to check these things more often.  I have three foot of compacted snow outside my door.  So, I don't expect there to be much of a fire season, this summer.  That means there won't be a lot of Morrels the following spring.

     Toddles!
