Hi,

i took this picture on camino island wa about 2 weeks ago. After looking long and hard at these images i decided i was looking at a dog track which has been stepped on partcially by a small deer? Anyone got any answers!? haha this one is confusing!

Great post, Jude!

I can see why it is confusing.  In this case, this animal slid on its toes in the mud.  This appears to be a domestic dog, though I can see how with the toes elongated they look a bit similar to the hooves of a black-tailed deer.  But given the 4 toes are visible, the arrangement looks very canine, you can see hair between the toes (especially the front 2 toes).  In loose, wet mud tracks can be warped in all sorts of strange ways. :)
